Bored Ape Yacht Club and Timbaland launch Metaverse production company


NFTs are faced with their strongest regulatory headwinds to date, but that doesn’t appear to have slowed the enraged wave of major media deals out of space.

Bored Monkey Yacht Club connected with GrammyAward-winning singer-songwriter and producer Timbaland form Ape-In Productions, an entertainment company that will focus on transforming various Bored Ape characters into metaverse musical artists.

Ape-In Productions will partner with the owners of various pieces Bored Ape and Mutant Ape to release original music and NFT animations, Variety reports.

The company has already signed The zoo, a hip-hop group that will release their first single “ApeSh! T”On November 17th. The single (and probably the rest of the music for Ape-In Productions) will be produced by Timbaland.

People who purchase NFT Ape-In Productions will have exclusive access to items such as merchandise, community events, virtual studio sessions, and live concerts featuring their Bored / Mutant Ape stars.

In a statement, Timbaland described Ape-In Productions as “a new metaverse entertainment platform that puts creative control and long-term ownership back into the hands of artists, a concept that’s extremely important to us.”

Ape-In Productions isn’t the first company to try and turn NFT characters into real-world icons. Jenkins the valet, a Bored Ape piece, signed with CAA in September in the hope of making deals in film, television, podcasting and publishing.
