CCW commits to becoming the first UK-based net zero production company by 2023

Manchester-based creative production company Creative Content Works (CCW) is committed to offering all clients the opportunity to offset their full carbon footprint for every project.

The company, which works in the fields of CGI, video production, 2D and 3D scanning and photogrammetry, allows its customers to opt for its sustainability program to jointly offset each project’s entire carbon footprint, including emissions generated by transport, labor and machine power.

CCW has purchased 7 acres of land, where they intend to plant up to 5,000 trees as part of the initiative. The engagement covers the company’s two sites in the UK and Bulgaria.

In a recent infographic, Hidden emissions in your purchase journey, CCW compared the carbon impact of traditional photography versus CGI, pointing out that digital production generates 75% less carbon emissions in the buying journey alone. CGI and virtual production is at least 33% less damaging to the environment than conventional production, the company added.

James McVitie, Managing Director of CCW, said: “We are committed to ensuring that the content we create and the processes we use are as sustainable and future-proof as possible. Looking to the future, we explore ways to act now and make a difference by reducing and offsetting our carbon footprint for a better, greener future.

“Our industry can no longer create content, films and advertising in the same way we have done before without considering the future impact on the environment,” McVitie added. “We have a responsibility to support our customers in their efforts by having our own plan to reduce our carbon footprint.

“CGI, which represents more than 70 percent of our activity, is an immediate environmental benefit compared to traditional production. It can also make a tangible difference in logistics-related carbon footprints. We hope to continue to increase our environmental responsibility in the coming years, paving the way for more innovative initiatives for the industry.
