Brewery

Common Space Brewery is a brewery and production facility in Hawthorne, California. At Common Space, our goal is to improve people’s lives, one pint at a time.

We operate a 30-barrel, 3-vessel brewhouse, RO water filtration system, centrifuge, yeast lab, steam disinfection keg line and back pressure canning line to produce a variety of year-round and unique recipes. We focus on quality and love good clean lagers and anything hopped. Our five best-selling beer styles are Mexican Lager, German Pilsner, Hazy IPA, West Coast Rotating IPAs, and a Hazy Fruity Milkshake. We expect to produce around 5,000 barrels of beer in 2022.

Position Summary

Our 5-person production team works collaboratively under the direction of our head brewer, Andy Link, to handle all of the following:

  • Recipe development

  • Material handling

  • Wort production

  • Management of fermentation, dry hopping and maturation

  • Sampling, measurements, yeast management and other laboratory work

  • Clarification and carbonation of beer

  • Canning and barreling

  • Cleaning

A senior member of our production team is leaving Los Angeles, and we need someone with experience in wort production and/or cellar work to join us. This hire deviates from our standard “up” training approach from the inside, and we see it as an opportunity to hire someone who has experience in a different environment. This parameter could be a brewing operation of a different scale, a brewery with a different purpose, or a number of other factors. We hope your brewing experiences can add nuance to our skill set as a team.

Our ideal candidate would have the following experience:

  • Hands-on expertise in CIP and SIP practices

  • Significant experience in wort production, cellar operations and/or canning line operations

  • Good understanding of the brewing process

  • Forklift, pallet truck and scissor lift operation

Terms

  • At least 2 years of brewing experience

  • At least 21 years old

  • Able to lift 55 pounds

  • Able to work safely with chemicals, steam, pressure, varying temperatures and loud noises

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $19-$25 and is highly dependent on level of experience. The remuneration also includes:
