Oscar-nominated actor and producer Dev Patel today announced his production company Minor Realm, which currently has a premier deal with ShivHans Pictures.
Patel also expanded the banner with Lakshmi Iyengar and Samarth Sahni joining the team. The company’s mission is to explore and develop the creative landscape of too often overlooked voices and talents, bringing these stories to life on a broader basis.
Lakshmi Iyengar, who most recently served as vice president of global acquisitions and production at Sony Pictures Entertainment, will join Minor Realm as executive vice president, responsible for production and development. In his new role, Lakshmi will produce and oversee the company’s film and television development roster. While at Sony, she was responsible for the creation of films such as THE WEDDING GUEST with Patel, LATE NIGHT, AMMONITE, THE WORLD TO COME and THE BROKEN HEARTS GALLERY. Prior to Sony, her extensive studio experience began at Universal Pictures and Focus Features, where she worked in global acquisitions.
Samarth Sahni will join the company as executive vice president of production. In his new role at Minor Realm, Samarth will produce film and television projects under the corporate banner. Sahni has extensive production experience working on major studio releases including MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, LIFE OF PI and BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL. Sahni has worked with Patel to produce films, including his directorial debut MONKEY MAN, which is in post-production and has been acquired by Netflix, as well as THE WEDDING GUEST and the short HOME SHOPPER, which Patel directed.

It was previously announced that Patel had signed a premier deal to produce, develop and create projects with the team at ShivHans Pictures, including CEO and Founder Shivani Rawat and President of Production Julie Goldstein. Patel and ShivHans Pictures previously collaborated on the film HOTEL MUMBAI in which Patel starred and was executive producer and ShivHans co-distributed with Bleecker Street.
Both Iyengar and Sahni will be located in Los Angeles, California, and will report directly to Patel.
