Duchess of Sussex joins production team for new animated series for Netflix


The Duchess of Sussex will be executive producer on a new animation program for Netflix, her production company has announced.

The Duke and Duchess’s website Archewell Productions said the series, titled Pearl, would be about a 12-year-old girl inspired by influential women in history and her adventures.

This is the second show in the Netflix deal that she and her husband signed last year after Heart Of Invictus, a docusery previously announced on the Invictus Games, the international sporting event for wounded, injured service members. and sick, founded by Prince Harry himself.

The Duchess said: “Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is in search of herself as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges.

“I am delighted that Archewell Productions, in partnership with the powerful platform Netflix, and these amazing producers, brings to you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”
Filmmaker David Furnish, husband of Sir Elton John, will also work on the program.
The Duchess added: “David Furnish and I have been eager to shine the spotlight on this special series, and I am delighted that we can announce it today.”

The Duchess will be an executive producer alongside Furnish and four other well-established names in the industry.

Expressing her joy for the project, Furnish said: “The Duchess of Sussex and I are deeply passionate about bringing the inspiring and positive stories of amazing women from around the world to a global audience of all ages.”

Pearl is a working title for the series and no release date has been set yet.
