Anchor “Good Morning America” George Stephanopoulos announced the development of a production company within ABC News.
“There are so many important stories to tell… I am excited to grow in this arena with our stellar ABC News team,” said Stephanopoulos.
The company is called George Stephanopoulos Productions. According to the announcement, it will produce non-fiction films and programs in the portfolio of ABC owner Disney. These platforms will include ABC, streaming services Hulu, Disney +, and cable networks National Geographic and FX, among others.
“George’s straightforward reporting and harsh but fair interviews have been a staple of ABC News for the past two decades. I look forward to seeing him bring this talent to this new space, sharing this informative and engaging content with our viewers, ”said Kim Godwin, President of ABC News.
“George is one of the brightest minds and most trusted voices in the news, and I am delighted to work with him to explore the most pressing, crucial and impactful stories of today as he expands in the long-lasting space, ”GSP Executive Producer Jennifer Joseph mentioned.
“Out of the Shadows” portrays Christopher Steele, the former MI6 agent, author of the explosive “Steele File” on Donald Trump and Russia, written in 2016 and debuted on Hulu on October 18. Meanwhile, “The Informant,” which documents the Oklahoma City bombing, premieres on Hulu on November 1.
Stephanopoulos is not the only one on the set of “GMA” to have a production company. Co-presenter Robin Roberts has been with the network since 2014. Called Rock’n Robin Productions, the company has provided content for ABC, ESPN, Disney + and Lifetime, among other outlets.
