SMT provides production services for the Valero Texas Open

SMT (SportsMEDIA Technology), the leading innovator of on-site scoring, results and statistics for events and live streams, continued its longstanding partnership with the Valero Texas Open to further enrich the spectator experience with signature production services through TPC San Antonio. The Valero Texas Open, the third oldest tournament on the PGA Tour, took place from March 28 to April 3.

For the 100th anniversary of the tournament, SMT provided 18 LED screens on the course; IPTV services for 325 televisions; 12 interactive terminals; pro-am raffle and social media production; broadcast services and displays for the Digital Media Center, 100th Anniversary Concert and Dash to VTO 5K.

Spectators at TPC San Antonio stayed informed via a variety of on-course LED video panels that displayed tournament information such as standings, social media tagging, VTO messaging, sponsor content and video captures of players. New this year was a 16-by-57-foot three-panel Monsterboard on the 18th hole. Another 14-by-22-foot Monsterboard was parked on the 16th green. Other new features include two 8-foot-tall double-sided curved displays located at the VIP entrance and backyard; two four-sided information towers at the 17th green and in the backyard with live scoring and directional information; and ribbon panels that flanked the walkway/player deck behind No 18, highlighting a tally of donations to Champions for Charity, the tournament’s fundraising programme.

In the VTO Media Center, SMT has provided an LED screen which will include real-time leaderboard, live streaming, player locator and tournament messaging.

In addition to screens, SMT provided:

• Tournament IPTV Platform and Service (TIPS) for 325 monitors around the field
• Production of the Pro-Am draw evening
• A live stream of the Jason Aldean/Darius Rucker concert on mobile screens and TVs in venues
• Cameras and streams for Dash to VTO 5K
