A new student-run standard professional video production company has been launched by the Royal Leamington Spa College.
RLS Productions, which will be managed by college group WCG, will work with small and medium-sized businesses and large corporations to meet their video production needs, with students ready to get real-world experience and get paid.
About 20 graduate and post-graduate students will be involved in the business, and Royal Leamington Spa College will also open its production suite for hire to clients and local filmmakers.
The college recently installed a new cutting edge editing suite and green screen that students can use in their studies and in their work with RLS Productions.
Students involved in the production company will study the Digital Film and Digital Media Production Bachelor Course, while former students with their own successful businesses will return to help guide the new company.
Liane Green, Lecturer at Royal Leamington Spa College, said: “We are always looking for ways to prepare our students for the industry and this new venture will be a fantastic way for them to gain valuable experience.
“Students will have the opportunity to work directly with clients in small teams and produce products ranging from company promotion videos to music videos and content for YouTubers.
“Customers will be able to enter and use our new facilities at the college and benefit from our students being prepared to act as a team for this shoot.
“These are bachelor’s level students who will produce professional quality products and we are delighted to welcome back alumni to support their development as well.”
