UEFA has tasked the Sunset + Vine football production team to play a key role in covering matches for the EURO 2020 tournament which kicks off on June 1 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, with Italy facing Turkey.

UEFA has selected 11 of the best European directors, including Jamie Oakford, Sunset + Vine’s top match director. Each match is covered by 44 cameras and each main match team consists of almost 50 people, showing the match and reruns as well as the UEFA rights holders package which includes additional camera feeds, interviews and content. support.

Based in Wembley, Oakford and its key VT coord, Tom Tudgay, will be supported by a battalion of handpicked cameramen and EVS operators, with logistical support from production manager Natalie Crabtree; they will cover eight matches, including all of England’s group matches against Croatia, Scotland and the Czech Republic, as well as the semi-finals and the final. A second team, led by director John Watts, will cover three matches in Baku. Sunset + Vine Scotland manager Grant Philips will lead a third team in Glasgow and contract the team in Bucharest.

Sunset + Vine will also engage the directors and their crews to cover the Opening Ceremony in Rome and the Closing Ceremony at Wembley. In total, over a hundred Sunset + Vine employees and contractors will be part of the Euros host broadcast team working throughout the month-long tournament.

“You always dream of making the big home team games,” says Oakford. “I had the chance to lead the 2014 World Cup final in Rio and we dreamed it would feature Brazil. Unfortunately, they were beaten 7-1 by Germany in the semifinals, so that never happened. The chance to do Wembley games here with an England side that could go a long way and with fans in the stadium will be something special. “

“Our football team has produced over 150 Premier and Europa League games this season for BT Sport,” added Jeff Foulser, President of Sunset + Vine. “Led by Director of Football Stephen Booth and Senior Director Jamie, we have had an eventful year which has seen live sports production changing forever with remote production and new working practices. It will be great for Jamie and the Sunset + Vine team to travel to Wembley and Baku and be a part of this major tournament that players and fans are eagerly awaiting to begin.
